Me: Thank you so much Crystal for sitting down with me. Some people see you as a seasoned VET, but you're really just getting started.

Me: When did you realize you passion was for Makeup and decided you wanted to pursue your career in cosmetics? 

Crystal: I discovered my passion for makeup at a really young age in 2000. It wasnt until 2015 that I decided to become a makeup artist, because so many people inquired about it. I decided to start my cosmetic line, because It has only been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember.I also had a fettish with lip-gloss and lipstick,so one day I was like I want to make my own gloss and lipsticks etc to create something for the people that I have to have when shopping for cosmetics.

Me: So tell me what's your favorite go to beauty brand, favorite look and why? 

Crystal: My favorite go to beauty brand of all time is Maybeline, because they have very good product and very affordable, so most times I will grab my Maybeline before I reach for my Nars or Mac. My favorite look of course is something with color (KOLOUR) thus why I chose the name Kolour Glam, because I love to use a lot of different colors to blend together to make the pefect look.

Me: So what would be some key advice for someone starting a business?

Crystal: When starting a business you should first make sure its something that you really want to do. Make sure that you can see yourself getting up everyday to put in hard work for, not just for a dollar, but for you passion and drive for it.

Me: Yes, your heart has to be in it. So how has Smoothie Queen revolutionized your own health thru making them?

Crystal: It all started back in 2011 when I started my weight lose journey. I fell in love with Smoothie King I would go daily to purchase smoothies sometimes more than one a day and it got pretty expensive, so I knew I had to do something about it. The next day I went to the grocery store and picked up a couple of ingredients and from that day forth I started making my smoothies daily and when I would have family and friends come over they would ask me to make them a smoothie.I started seeing great results and how much my health was improving. I would post daily when I would make one and one of my friends was like you should really persue this and start a smoothie business and me being me I stepped out on faith and here I am 5 years in business.

Me: Yes, look at that 5 years later. Wow! So how has Smoothie Queen changed since you first opened? Any new additions?

Crystal: I started Smoothie Queen back in 2016. Since the very first day I started until now 2020 I have grown and put in a lot of hard work and dedication. My goal from day one is to continue to improve and make my smoothie business the best that it can be. There is always room for improvement.I started out with 3 flavors and now I have over 8 flavors and I have now added detox teas, vitamin shots, as well as milkshakes to the menu. I am extremely proud of where I am today and my plan is to continue to strive for excellence in my busines.

Me: Well we are definitely proud of you and wish you well. Any last advice you leave for the next generation?

Crystal:The harder you work for something the greater you'll feel when you achieve it". Work hard the sky is NOT the limit.
